Monday, March 26 When I started writing and serializing Fifty-One Shades on March 9, I wrote:
New episodes posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, until a publisher hands me a fat stack of Benjamins and offers to publish it. Then I'll take it down, change the characters' names to "Edward" and "Bella," and hide from my fans in my new McMansion in a gated community in Beverly Hills.
In addition to completing the first draft, I've also spent the past two weeks fending off publishers. At first it was easy to tell them to leave me alone. I'm an Artist. My Pure Vision will not be sullied by the dirty hands of commerce. Unfortunately, as the size of the Beverly Hills McMansion that publishers dangled in front of me became progressively larger and more ridiculous, my Artistic Integrity slowly dissolved into the California sun...
I'll be suspending the excerpts on this site until I have a chance to review the offers on the table and make a decision about the direction I want to take Fifty-One Shades. Thank you to the readers who have been following the story, commenting, rating it on GoodReads, and spreading the word about Chris Gray and Anna Steal. Their story will continue, in some form. Stay tuned...
